Today is Halloween. Some people choose to dress up. Others choose not to. This month there has been a lot of candy eaten by both young and old! Many people have gathered together as well. Every year during this holiday we see and hear a lot about things like Vampires, Witches, and Zombies.
There are people who may dress up as one of these. There are scary movies about them as well. While there is a lot of emphasis on these kinds of things, it’s important to remember that they are fake. They don’t exist! It’s all fiction.
It’s also important to remember what is true. It’s important to remember that Jesus died and rose from the grave! That’s a FACT! It’s a fact we must make sure our children know and one day come to believe. The resurrection of Jesus was a miracle. That’s a FACT!
Jesus spoke about His resurrection in John 2:19. “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews would respond by saying, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days? But He was speaking of the temple of His body.” John 2:20-21 What Jesus said was true! It happened! He died, was buried, and rose from the grave.
Jesus said, “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.” John 10:17-18
Jesus died on the cross! The Bible says, “Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.” John 19:28
He was buried in a tomb on a Friday night, John 19:38-41. On the first day of the week, He rose from the grave, John 20. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus really happened! People saw Him die. People saw Him, heard Him, and touched Him after He rose from the grave, John 20: 14-17, 19-28
These are facts we must never forget. These are facts our children must know! They have been recorded so that we can believe Jesus is the Son of God.
