We are off to a great start with our new Bible classes. I began teaching “Pulling the Curtain back on Spiritual Warfare” this past Wednesday. We had a great discussion in our Bible class. I want to encourage you to do your best to be in attendance on Wednesdays. We are in a battle with the devil. He is like a roaring lion seeking to devour the people of God, 1 Peter 5:8. As we go through this study, it will be important to remember Deuteronomy 29:29 which says, “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.” I often reference this text as a reminder when I teach certain classes like this. There’s a lot of intrigue when it comes to angels, demons, and the devil. There are lots of television shows and movies on these beings.
There are people who believe demon possession exists today. I don’t believe demon possession is taking place today. But it certainly was in the first century. The Holy Scriptures do provide us with information regarding angels, demons, and the devil. Yet the challenge for many will be to be content with what’s been revealed. But this is what we must do! It can be easy for people to focus more on speculation than on what’s been revealed! Let’s not make that mistake.
We need to carefully listen to what’s been revealed so we can observe all the words of God. The apostle Paul reminds us of what we should be doing in Ephesians 3:3-5: “…That by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit…”
· We have a responsibility to read what’s been revealed! A lot has been given to us. This will be a lifetime endeavor.
· The good news is we can understand what’s been given to us!
While we may want all the details of what’s taking place in the spiritual realm, let’s be content with what we know! What we know is that our Father in heaven rules! What we know is Jesus has been exalted to the right hand of God, Acts 2:33. What we know is that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us as we pray, Romans 8:26. What we know is that there are angels who are ministering spirits “Sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14. What we know is heaven awaits! The devil can only look forward to being in hell for eternity, Matthew 25:41. Let’s focus on what’s been revealed!
